New Girl is really coming into its own, with a nice cosy Thanksgiving episode with a great guest star performance by Justin Long as Paul, Jess’ holiday date.
It’s kinda cute to see Jess and Paul sing and dance together – it’s hard to believe there is a male equivalent to Jess! But however nice a couple they make, it is still blindingly obvious that Jess and Nick will end up together. They are destined to be a Ross and Rachel or Leonard and Penny match-up. At least another relationship option is explored further this episode, with Schmidt and Cece hinting at something more.
Talking about Schmidt, this is the first episode where he didn’t come across as a total douche bag – good to see a bit more character development in someone who isn’t Jess or Nick. It’s learnt that not only is he somewhat a control freak of a chef, he is also a germaphobe who has to stay clean. (Hmm, where have we seen that before? *Cough* Monica Geller *Cough*)
Finally, cooking the turkey in the washing machine: very funny, especially when used as a cross-cut between scenes. Bravo!
